Principal's Message

Dear Westbury Middle School Families, Scholars, Teachers, Staff and Community Members,

Welcome to a year of fortitude, collaboration, and excellence as we proudly prepare for September 2025! The joy of a new school year is always heartwarming, and I am truly humbled and honored to serve as the principal of a school filled with remarkable leaders, dedicated staff, brilliant scholars, and a supportive community.

The first day of school is Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Scholars should arrive at 6:45 AM for our traditional Dance Party kick-off! Perfect Attendance tracking begins on Day One. As we return to the building, we are fully prepared to implement our action plan centered on professional learning, explicit instruction aligned with the Next Generation Standards, and a focus on scholar needs. Our foundation will be strong: Professional Learning Communities, coherent curriculum, academic monitoring, and lesson studies will drive our continued success.

Westbury Union Free School District thrives through a legacy of collaboration and cultural excellence, built on partnerships among district leaders, the Board of Education, staff, families, and community members; all working together to enrich the experiences of our scholars. This year, scholars will once again have access to incredible enrichment opportunities, including My Brother’s Keeper, My Sister’s Keeper, and wellness support from our counseling team. They can also join STEAM Club, Robotics, Debate Team, Jazz Band, Cheerleading, Sports, Musical Theater, Visual Arts, Chorus, and more! We are especially proud to introduce our new Newcomers Club, promoting equity, inclusion, and cultural celebration across our diverse district.

Our top priority this year is to ensure every scholar moves closer to reading on grade level; literacy in all subject areas is our focus. Together, we will make strategic, intentional decisions to give all scholars access to a rigorous, enriching curriculum that prepares them for high school, college, and beyond. With your support, we will close learning gaps and connect instruction to real-world and culturally relevant experiences. Our scholars are eager to explore new ideas, guided by skilled and passionate teachers. Through strong partnerships among families, educators, and support staff, we will ensure consistent learning and encourage every child to be an active learner. It is our shared mission to provide the skills and opportunities our scholars need to thrive as productive citizens in a competitive world.

We are confident that we can make our school culturally responsive, inclusive and develop an ambitious community of learners.
