We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Jonathan Oliveri to the Westbury Middle School as our new Assistant Principal. Dr. Oliveri brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership and language instruction, making him a valuable addition to our middle school team.

After head-to-head with 15 schools across the East Coast, Westbury High School emerged victorious in the “2024 Turf Madness Competition.” The award, presented by LandTek at the pep rally on September 20th, recognized Westbury’s field as the best turf installed in 2024.

The Westbury Union Free School District proudly congratulates Ms. Echele May, Principal of Drexel Avenue Elementary School, and Ms. Shirley Vargas, Department Chairperson of World Languages and Seal of Biliteracy Coordinator at Westbury High School, for their well-deserved honors at the recent Hispanic Heritage Month Opening Ceremony. This recognition was presented by the Office of Hispanic Affairs and the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, shining a light on their exceptional dedication and contributions to our community. We take pride in their achievements and the enduring impact they continue to have in Westbury.

Mrs. Meaghan Gray, an English teacher at Westbury High School, was invited by the Westbury Memorial Public Library to speak to the community about 9/11 and the importance of teaching it in classrooms. 

Westbury Boys Varsity Soccer captain Abdiel V. has been named to Newsday’s Top 100 boys soccer players list. A third-year starter for the Green Dragons, Abdiel excels as a central midfielder.

We are delighted to share that Bradley A. has been chosen to play the Tuba in the Symphonic Band at the 2024-2025 NYSSMA All-State Performing Ensembles in Rochester

Westbury High School recently held a heartfelt graduation ceremony on August 26, celebrating the accomplishments of its graduates.

Christopher Cassone, a Science specialist at Drexel Avenue Elementary School, has been awarded the prestigious LISTEMELA (Long Island Science Technology Engineering Math Education Leadership Association) award for outstanding contributions to the Westbury Union Free School District and Drexel Avenue Elementary School.

A crossing guard will be stationed at this intersection starting April 2nd, 2024. To accommodate our middle school scholars' arrival and departure times, the crossing guard will be present during school days from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM and again from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. This schedule ensures that our scholars have a safe passage during the busiest times of the school day.

The Donald R. Ross Track and Field Complex has a new sign at its entrance, which honors Donald R. Ross for his remarkable 40-year tenure as a coach and mentor within the Westbury Athletic Department.

In March, we commemorate Women’s History Month, a time dedicated to honoring and celebrating women’s remarkable contributions to society. At the Westbury Union Free School District, we take pride in recognizing the extraordinary women who are integral leaders in our educational community.

Faith Shaw, a WHS Class of 2020 graduate, excels at Long Island University (BK). Majoring in Exercise Science with a 3.82 GPA, Faith is both an academic and track and field standout.

Congratulations to the Westbury Varsity Boys Winter Track team for clinching the Nassau County Conference 2 championship at St. Anthony’s on January 16, 2024! Congrats to all the Green Dragons and their coaches: Donald Ross, Darin Harrison, Drew Harrison, and Eric Banks.
 

Westbury Varsity Football’s Thomas F. and Donnell L. have been selected to play in the Nassau County Football Senior game on Thursday, 11/23/23, at 10:00 am at Mitchell Field. We wish our two exceptional Green Dragons great success in this collegiate prospect event.
