“Coach Charles began his interscholastic football career as a two way starter for Far Rockaway High School. Coach Charles was selected All County at Far Rockaway High School, a PSAL member school and went on to represent borough (Queens) in the prestigious Fugazy Bowl. This game is played annually on Staten Island and matches the best senior football talent (Public and Catholic) from Queens, NY vs. their counterparts from Staten Island, NY. Coach Charles then began his intercollegiate football career playing for Nassau County Community College. NCCC, a perennial junior college powerhouse earned playoff births and reached the championshipduring the two years coach Charles played running back for them. After completion of junior college, C.W. Post recruited coach Charles to join their Division II football team and coach Charles went on to play for C.W. Post during his Junior and Senior years of college. C.W. Post earned playoff births in each of the two seasons coach Charles played for them. Long time C.W. Post Coach Brian Collins recognized the outstanding potential coach Charles would provide as an assistant after his player days would end and offered coach Charles a position on the C.W. Post Football coaching staff. Coach Charles accepted the position and served four years as a C.W. Post assistant coach. After being hired as a full time physical education teacher by the Westbury UFSD, Coach Charles rejoined the Westbury Varsity Football Coaching Staff as an assistant coach. Prior to the start of the 2012 season, Coach Charles was selected to become the new head coach of the Westbury Green Dragons. His presence in Westbury High School has brought renewed interest and enthusiasm toward the sport of football. The future of Westbury Football is in good hands.”
