Joanny Gomez, Dryden Street Teacher, honored as Educator of the Month - Video now available

To view the presentation, click the headline to open this article and then follow the link at the end. Last month, Joanny Gomez, a teacher for 18 years at Dryden Street School, was honored as Educator of the Month by Dowling College and Cablevison's News 12.

The award was presented by Dr. Clyde Payne, Dowling College's Dean of the School of Education. According to Dr. Payne, "Since Long Island is known for having the best teachers in the nation, and we received so many nominations from across Nassau and Suffolk, we look forward to honoring the best of the best. Every school has those special teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty and make a difference in the lives of their students. Each year Dowling College and New 12 Long Island recognizes those unique educators who add value to the community's success."

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Clark-Snead, Superintendent of Schools, Mary Lagnado, Assistant Superintendent for Business, Floyd Ewing former School Board President, Jay Marcucci, Director of Technology, Dale Telmer, Principal of Dryden Street, Teresa Grossane, Assistant Principal of Dryden Street School, Christine Corbett, Vice President of the Westbury Teacher's Association and several colleagues and relatives.
