Continental Mathematics League

This year we will again participate in the Continental Mathematics League. The purpose of the Continental Mathematics League is to give our students an experience with critical thinking, reading and complex problem solving. The CML program challenges, excites and engages students and also gives us a fun to assess how our students measure up with respect to each other and with respect to students in other districts.

American Mathematics Contest

On Tuesday, November 15, 2005, we will administer the American Mathematics Contest to a select group of our top middle school mathematics students during first and second period in the Westbury Middle School cafeteria. The American Mathematics Contest is among the oldest and most prestigious of the many contests and activities that have been developed over the years to challenge, excite, and engage our best mathematics students. The American Mathematics Contest is given annually to more than 160,000 of the top middle school mathematics students nationwide and in several countries abroad.

Accelerated Math "A" Regents Program

This year we will again offer Regents Math A to a select group of 8th grade students at Westbury Middle School. Last year this program was a spectacular success. The three honors math 8 classes took the Math A Regents and more than half achieved mastery.
