Office of Pupil Personnel Services

The Office of Pupil Personnel Services provides support services for the students in the Westbury Public Schools. Each school in the District has a Pupil Personnel team whose purpose is to ensure the academic, psychological, social and physical development of all students in Grades Pre Kindergarten - 12.

Student Learning Objectives for Students With Disabilities

According to the State Education Department, students with disabilities are expected to receive a free and appropriate education within the general education environment to the maximum extent possible. Therefore, the learning objectives that apply to general education students in Grades K-12, also applies to students with disabilities.

It is important to note that students who reside in the Westbury School District and who have been classified by the Committee on Special Education (CSE) receive programs and services based on an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). The relative success of a student with disabilities benefiting from instruction in a general education setting depends on the extent of the disability. Thus, the role of the CSE is to determine the appropriate program and services for classified students within the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).

The Westbury School District provides a continuum of services and programs for students with disabilities in the local schools.
